Food is our fuel, like petrol in a car or the battery in your phone, it provides the necessary chemical energy and nutrients that fuel our bodies. The 3 main food groups and their roles in fuelling our bodies are detailed below;

Carbohydrate
Carbohydrates are used to provide energy both immediately and stored. It is also important in the metabolism of other compounds.

Protein
Protein is broken down in the body into amino acids. It is amino acids that form the building blocks of the body’s structure.

Fat
Although much maligned fat is extremely important not only as an energy source but also in the
maintenance of the bodies tissue and
nervous system.
