A lot of controversy currently surrounds low carbohydrate diets, a lot of which is fantasicism. It must always be remembered that it’s not just about the diet its about sales.

Low carbohydrate diets are for some people a useful tool in assisting weight loss for others they are the worst thing they could do to themselves. Most of it boils down to how full our food makes us feel and for how long and this comes down to controlling a hormone called insulin.

It must also be remembered that carbohydrate is an essential nutrient and for many it is more to do with the form that carbohydrate takes. Most nutritionist would agree however that it is the type and quantity of carbohydrate that counts.
